About me
Emeritus Professor in Ecological Economics at Massey University. Murray is widely published in several fields including ecological economics, environmental valuation, cross-cultural research, energy analysis, environmental policy and policy modelling. Much of his research is of an applied and interdisciplinary nature, working at the interface of policy and sustainability concerns.
Experience
Leader of largescale, interdisciplinary, cross-institute environmental research programmes, from 2000 to 2019
Founding Director of the New Zealand Centre for Ecological Economics from 2003-2011.
Proven ability to win large research grants and consultancy projects ($46 million), with a primary focus on sustainability.
Graduate and post-graduate teaching experience in policy evaluation, planning techniques and natural resource planning. Extensive experience in supervising honours-level research projects and PhDs in natural resource planning and ecological economics.
